Benjamin Frank “Dude” Yopp, 89, of New Britain, Ct. entered peacefully into eternal rest, Monday June 24, 2013 at Andrew House Healthcare, New Britain, Ct. Benjamin was born in Berlin, Ct. and was the son of the late David Yopp, Sr. and Mary Lena Banks. Benjamin retired from Fafnir Bearing Company after many years of employment. He was a big boxing fan and loved watching western movies. Benjamin loved spending time with his family, never missing a family gathering. He instilled respect and hard work in his children. He will be truly missed.
Benjamin is survived by his children, David, Melvin, Dale, Shawn and Dolores Yopp, Jeanette (Yopp) Bradley, Richard Allen and Damian LaBreck, all of New Britain, Christine (Yopp) Evans and Joan (Yopp) Howze of Charlotte, NC, Wayne Allen of Torrington, Ct. and Deborah LaSalle of Middletown, Ct., his three sisters, Bernice (Yopp) Wooten, Priscilla (Yopp) Pearson and Mattie (Yopp) West, his thirty grandchildren, forty-four great grandchildren, ten great great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and friends. Benjamin was predeceased by his beloved wife, Vida (Wheeler) Yopp, his two sisters, Willie Mae Cross and Daisy (Yopp) Evans, his two brothers, Thomas and Eldridge Yopp, his two daughters, Aquila (Yopp) Levine and Cynthia (Yopp) Cheatham, his step-daughter Sylvia (Oglesby) Baker and his grandson, Anthony Boxley.
Homegoing Celebration for Benjamin will be held Monday July 1, 2013 at 11 a.m. from the Paul A. Shaker / Farmingdale Funeral Home, 764 Farmington Avenue, New Britain, Ct. with Rev. Mona McKenzie, presiding. Committal service and final resting place will be in Fairview Cemetery, 120 Smalley Street, New Britain, Ct. Relatives and friends may call at the Paul A.
