Michael A. Naples, 79, of Kensington, CT., known by his siblings and friends as “Junior” died Monday, April 20, 2015 at his home in his favorite chair. Mike was born in New Britain, CT., and was the son of the late Michael H. and Rose (Masso) Naples. He was the owner and operator of Naples Electric since 1964. Mike attended all local public schools in New Britain and also attended EC Goodwin Technical for a Co-Op Course in the electrical department which led him to start his own electrical company. He served his country honorably in the U.S. Army, 516 Missile Battalion during the Korean War.
Mike is survived by his son Gary B. Naples and his wife Kirsty of New Britain, CT., his brother Sam P. Naples of Newington, CT., his two sisters Nancy A. Pagliaruli , and Lola Lattarulo, both of Newington, CT., his five grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Michael, Cameron, Lisa and Isla, his daughter-in-law Lorri Naples of Green Bay, Wisc., his best friend Dennis Bryant of New Britain, CT., and several nieces and nephews. Mike was predeceased by his daughter Lisa M. Naples, his son Michael S. Naples, and his six sisters Christine Mazzarella, Tina Coco, Rose Hawrylick, Anne Wysoski, Mary Valee and Margaret Swiatek.
Funeral rites for Mike will be held Friday, April 24, 2015 at 8:30 a.m. with the procession departing at 9 a.m. from the Paul A. Shaker Funeral Home, 764 Farmington Ave., New Britain, CT., followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at St. Paul Church, 485 Alling St., Kensington, CT. Burial with full military honors will be in St. Mary Cemetery, 1141 Stanley Street, New Britain, CT. The American Flag will be presented to Mike’s son, Gary. Relatives and friends may call at the Paul A. Shaker Funeral Home Thursday from 4 – 7 p.m. Directions to funeral home I-84 East or West, Exit 37 (Fienemann Rd) - right off exit – one mile down on right. The Elks Lodge #957 will hold a ritual Thursday at 6 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the CT Humane Society, 701 Russell Rd., Newington, CT.
