Manuel “Manny”, “Papa” Ordonez, 91, of New Britain, CT. passed away Thursday, July 2, 2015 at Autumn Lake Health Care Center in New Britain, CT. Manuel was born in Cardenas Matanzas, Cuba 91 years ago, and was the son of the late Contante and Norberta (Rodriguez) Ordonez. He lived with his wife and son in New York City before making his life in New Britain, CT. He worked at and retired from Jacobs Manufacturing, Co.

Manuel is survived by his wife of almost seventy-one years, Maria Ordonez of New Britain, CT, his grandson Kenneth Michael Ordonez, daughters-in-law Kathie Basso and Kathy Ordonez, his furry companion cat “Penny”, many nieces, nephews and a network of friends made over the years. Manuel is predeceased by his only son Cesar.

Our family sincerely thanks those who assisted in Manuel’s care, the staff at Autumn Lake in New Britain, and especially those of Hartford Health Care at Home – Hospice Care who were a blessing to us on this journey. A Celebration of Manny’s life will be held Tuesday July 14, 2015 at 10a.m. at St. Joseph Church, 195 S. Main St., New Britain, CT. Burial will be private in St. Joseph Cemetery, Windsor, CT. There are no calling hours. The Paul A. Shaker Funeral Home, 764 Farmington Ave., New Britain, CT. has charges of arrangements.
