Gregory J. Kasper, Sr., of New Britain, Ct., 74, passed away, Monday, May 16, 2016 at the Hospital of Central CT @ New Britain General. Greg was born in New Britain and was the son of the late Edward and Anna (Logwin) Kasper. He was a lifelong machinist, working at several shops including New Britain Machine and Pratt & Whitney, from which he retired in 2000.
Greg is survived by his wife of 51 years, Mariann Kasper, who he loved dearly and his son, Gregory Kasper, Jr. Greg also leaves behind his sister, Patricia Lagasse, his brother, Michael Kasper, his favorite niece, Sheila Ungiechajer, along with other nieces, nephews and relatives. We would also like to acknowledge his friends, Carmen, Samantha, Kevin and Nate at the Corbin Ave. FoodBag; and to thank friends and neighbors for their kindness and support, especially Lisa Wisniewski, who went above and beyond in making a tough time easier.
Greg was a loyal Patriots, Red Sox and Nascar fan and could often be heard yelling at the tv when a game was on. He was fond of animals and began caring for several feral cats that he named, fed, cared for and talked to. He built his cats an insulated, water proof, heated home for the winter but his favorite was his one indoor cat Petey, which became a part of his family.
Greg was a jack of all trades and could always figure out a problem and a way to fix it. Sometimes with a little yelling and swearing involved. Greg was a lover of Halloween and Christmas and was proud of setting up all his decorations and entertaining the "trick or treaters".
Do not mourn his death because Greg wouldn't want that. Instead, rejoice his life with the special and funny memories he left you with. Death leaves a heartache no one can heal. Love leaves a memory no one can steal.
Funeral services and burial will be private. There are no calling hours. The Paul A. Shaker Funeral Home, 764 Farmington Avenue, New Britain, Ct. has charge of arrangements. To share a memory of Greg or to extend condolences to the Kasper Family, please visit shakerfuneralhome.com.
