Obituary for Albert Melkon Abadjian

Albert Melkon Abadjian
Albert Melkon Abadjian, 94, of New Britain, Connecticut, passed away peacefully on Sunday July 17, 2016, at home surrounded by his loved ones after a short illness. He was truly a gift from God to all who knew him. He was the kindest, most generous, forgiving, patient and loving father and grandfather. He will be missed beyond words.
He was born in Chemlan, Lebanon on April 18, 1922 according to his birth certificate, however, he always claimed that his father made a mistake when filing his papers and added a year to his age. He was the son of the late Melkon Abadjian and Victoria (nee Nalbandian) Abadjian. He was also a resident of New Britain, CT since 1988.
Albert is survived by five daughters: Silva Abadjian; Alitz McDonald, her husband Bill and their son Kaelan; Margo Abadjian, her husband Jonathan Cullen and their son Danny; Liza Abadjian; and Linda Abadjian-Kessel and their son Julian. He was predeceased by his wife of 55 years, Noemi (Tateossian) Abadjian. He is also survived by his sister, Dolly (Gladys Northup) of Houston, Texas; and his two brothers: George Abadjian of Houston Texas and David Abadjian of Chemlan, Lebanon. He was predeceased by his sister Betty Kopper. He also leaves behind many nieces and nephews.
As a young man, Albert graduated from Aleppo College in Syria and he subsequently worked for the Bardawil Company in Lebanon. He returned home to take over the family business, Hotel Melkon which was started by his parents. This is where he met his wife, Noemi, and where he raised his five daughters. The first words he uttered to Noemi were: “How may I help you?”. Those words summarize his attitude towards of everyone around him – a lifetime of service and generosity to others.
Funeral rites for Albert will be held on Thursday, July 21, 2016, at 8:30 am with the procession departing at 9:00 am from the Paul A. Shaker Funeral Home, 764 Farmington Avenue, New Britain, CT, and 10 a.m. at the Armenian Church of the Holy Resurrection, 1910 Stanley Street, New Britain.
