Pauline McCarthy, 91, of New Britain, CT., died Wednesday, October 19, 2016 at the Hospital of Central CT @ New Britain General. Pauline was born in Fort Gaines, Georgia and was the daughter of the late Frank and Minnie (Young) Thornton. Pauline worked as a CNA at Walnut Hill Convalescent Home in New Britain for several years.
Pauline is survived by her two daughters Eunice McCarthy of Bristol, CT and Marian Yopp of New Britain, CT., her two sons Howard McCarthy of Plainville, CT and Elijah McCarthy, Jr. and his wife Delores of Unionville, CT. and a host of nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Pauline was predeceased by her husband Elijah McCarthy, Sr., her son Willie McCarthy and her sister Ossie Gray.
A Homegoing Celebration for Pauline will be held Wednesday, October 26, 2016 at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Thomas A. Mills, Jr., Pastor, presiding from the Paul A. Shaker Funeral Home, 764 Farmington Ave., New Britain, CT. Burial will be private. Relatives and friends may call at the Paul A. Shaker Funeral Home Wednesday from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m. Directions to funeral home – I-84 east or west – exit 37 (Fienemann Rd) right off exit – one mile down on right.
