Obituary for Arman J. Alex

Arman J. Alex
Arman J. Alex, 89, of Bristol, CT., died peacefully Tuesday, November 1, 2016 at the Curtis Home Meriden, CT. Arman was born in New Britain, CT and was the son of the late John (Garabedian) Alex and Lillian (Yousefian) Alex. He served his country honorably in the U.S. Army during WWII and he was awarded the WWII Victory Medal. He was loved, respected and admired by all who ever knew him. Arman was known as a kind, benevolent and caring family man. He made a friend of everyone he met. Arman knew how to make people feel good about themselves and did so, even through his own suffering, until the very end. Whether at “The Village at Kensington Place Assisted Living Facility” or later at “The Curtis Nursing Home”, Arman shared his profound love of life, people and all kinds of music---bringing a joviality to residents and staff alike! It didn’t matter which of his colorful array of hats he chose to wear…Arman, the “man with the smiling eyes” made every occasion a SPECIAL occasion! Now, he is no doubt in heaven surrounded by the many friends and loved ones who have been anxiously awaiting his arrival for, as they say, “NOW the party can begin!”
Arman is survived by his beloved three daughters Diana Lee Cummings and her husband William of Bonita Springs, FL., Deborah Gail Adaskaveg and her husband Alexander of Southington, CT., Carol Ann Dube and her husband Brian, of Wolcott, CT., his brother Lt. Col. Charles Alex and sister Sophie Elia, his six grandchildren and one great grandchild, as well as several nieces and nephews. Arman was predeceased by his wife Irene (Shahrigian) Alex, his three sons, Arman Alex, Jr., Arman John Alex and John Martin Alex, his two daughters, Sheila Marie Giorgione and Sevene Marie Alex, his two brothers Norman Alex and Carroll Alex, and his two grandchildren, Justin Gorneault and Billy Cummings. The family would like to thank all the caregivers at The Village and The Curtis Home who assisted in Arman’s care and comfort during his later years at your facilities.
Funeral rites for Arman will be held Tuesday, November 8, 2016 at 8:30 a.m. with the procession departing at 9 a.m. from the Paul A. Shaker Funeral Home, 764 Farmington Ave., New Britain, CT. followed by a Funeral Liturgy at 10 a.m. at St. Stephen’s Armenian Apostolic Church, 167 Tremont St., New Britain, CT. Burial with full military honors will be in Fairview Cemetery, 120 Smalley St., New Britain, CT. The American flag will be presented to Arman’s daughter, Diana.
