Lillian C. Dorval, 87, of New Britain, CT passed away Sunday, November 27, 2016 after a long journey with Alzheimer's and Dementia. Lillian was born in New Britain, CT and was the daughter of the late Alexander and Alice (Gromaski) Woroniecki. Lillian graduated from Teachers' College of Connecticut (CCSU) in 1951, and served as a Teacher in New Britain Schools. After the death of her husband, Lillian continued working as a Substitute Teacher, while raising her children. She then worked for the State of Connecticut as a Toll Collector and later for the Lottery Commission. Lillian was affectionately known as "The Puppet Lady" and enjoyed entertaining children in schools, hospitals, and throughout the community.
Lillian leaves her three adult children, her son Norman Dorval and her daughter Beverly Dorval both of New Britain, CT and daughter Patricia (Dorval) Morency and her husband David of Hebron, CT, her two granddaughters, Kimberly Montero of Vernon, CT and Lauren Morency of Hebron, CT her sister, Sandra Carey, of New Britain, CT and several nieces and nephews. Lillian was predeceased by her husband Norman Dorval, in 1960, her two sisters, Joan Weber and Rosann Cornelli, as well as her grandson Jeffrey Dorval and great grandson, Evan Montero.
A Celebration of Lillian’s life will be held Friday, December 2, 2016 at 11 a.m. at St. Francis of Assisi Church, 1755 Stanley St., New Britain, CT. Committal service and final resting place will be in St. Mary Cemetery, 1141 Stanley St., New Britain, CT. Relatives and friends may call at St. Francis of Assisi Church Friday from 10:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. The Paul A. Shaker Funeral Home, 764 Farmington Ave., New Britain, CT has charge of arrangements.
