William J. Battle, Jr., 45, died Thursday, December 8, 2016 at St. Francis Hospital, Hartford, CT. William was born in New Britain, CT and was the son of Nancy (Kasmar) Battle of New Britain, CT and William J. Battle, Sr. and his wife Joyce of North Charleston, SC. He worked as a Disc Jockey going by the name of DJ Billy Battle for several years. Billy was a member of Cross St. A.M.E. Zion Church, Middletown, CT.
William is survived by his daughter - Nicole Battle of New Britain, CT his sister- Alexus Battle of North Charleston, SC his granddaughter - Ramiah Rivera his grandmother - Addie Battle of Bristol, CT., his aunts and uncles Claude and Christine Allen of Windsor, CT, Rev. James Battle and his wife Susan of Bloomfield, CT, George Battle, Jr. of Middletown, CT and Stanley Kasmar of New Britain, CT his three step-brothers – Harold Douglas of North Charleston, SC, Eric Douglas of Manchester, CT and Curtis Douglas and his wife Iliana of Windsor, CT, his companion – Adrienne Shappy of New Britain, CT and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, grand- nieces and nephews and friends. William was predeceased by his paternal grandfather – Reverend George C. Battle and his maternal grandparents – Stanley and Josephine Kasmar.
Homegoing Celebration for William will be held Thursday, December 15, 2016 at 11 a.m. from the Paul A. Shaker Funeral Home, 764 Farmington Ave., New Britain, CT with the Rev. Moses Harville, Pastor, presiding. Committal service and final resting place will be in Fairview Cemetery, 120 Smalley St., New Britain, CT. Relatives and friends may call at the Paul A.
