Galen Pelletier, 85, of New Britain, CT beloved husband of Greta Pelletier for sixty one years passed away Saturday, February 4, 2017 at the Hospital of Central CT @ New Britain General after a short illness. Galen was born in St. Francis, Maine and was the son of the late Henry and Odile (Michaud) Pelletier. He lived most of his life in New Britain and served his country proudly in the U.S. Army. He worked at Emhart/Corbin Russwin for thirty four years. Galen was a humble, kind, honest and loving man who adored his wife and loved his family very deeply. He lived his life with integrity “always do the right thing”. He most enjoyed spending time with his family, often helping and teaching his daughters and grandchildren with home renovation projects in which he took great pleasure. Galen was a very religious man who served his parish in volunteering his time and skills for over twenty years.
In addition to his wife Greta, Galen is survived by his daughters Dorna Hebert of Farmington, CT Trudy Holyst and her husband Ken of New Hartford, CT, Jody VanBuren and her husband Bill of Torrington, CT and Marsha Pelletier and her wife Jami Corrow of Colchester, CT his two sisters Camilla Caron and Marylyn Thibodeau and her husband Ted, his two brothers Rocky and his wife Mae, Delmar and his wife Teri, his nine grandchildren, ten great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Galen was predeceased by his brother Lucien.
Funeral rites for Galen will be held Wednesday, February 8, 2017 at 8:30 a.m. with the procession departing at 9 a.m. from the Paul A. Shaker Funeral Home, 764 Farmington Ave., New Britain, CT followed by a Liturgy of Christian burial at 10 a.m. at St. Mary Church, 544 Main St., New Britain, CT. Burial with full military honors will be in St. Mary Cemetery, 1141 Stanley St., New Britain, CT. The American flag will be presented to Galen’s wife, Greta. Relatives and friends may call at the Paul A. Shaker Funeral Home Tuesday from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Directions to funeral home – I-84 east or west, exit 37 (Fienemann Rd) right off exit – one mile down on right. In lieu of flowers donations in Galen’s memory may be made to St. Mary Church, 544 Main St., New Britain, CT.
