Gilman Joseph Paradis, Sr., 74, of Bristol, CT died at home Saturday, February 18, 2017 surrounded by his loving family his wife of 57 years, Dinah (Dyer) Paradis and his eldest granddaughter Chrissy whom he loved like his own daughter. Gilman was born on November 30, 1942 in Forth Kent, ME and was the son of the late Felix Sr and Hattie (Guimond) Paradis. In 1960 Gilman came to CT to start his family and a career at GE. Where he retired after thirty-seven years of service. He was full of life and loved his family vacations in Old Orchard Beach, ME, travelling with his wife, and spending time with his brothers.

Gilman leaves behind his five children; Gayle Paradis of Bristol, CT Gilman Paradis Jr. of New Britain, CT Scott Paradis and his wife Cindy of New Britain, CT Mark Paradis and his wife Pamela of Plainville, CT and Brian Paradis of Bristol, CT. His eleven grandchildren and eighteen great-grandchildren. He also leaves behind one sister, Doris Dyer, seven brothers; Alva, Lucien, Victor, James, Edgar, Felix Jr., and Norman Paradis, and many nieces and nephews. Gilman was predeceased by his two grandchildren, Gilman Paradis, III and Krystal Cappa, his two sisters, Teresa Tilly and Renette Cyr, and his two brothers, Roland Paradis and Leo Paradis.

Funeral rites for Gilman will be held Wednesday, February 22, 2017 at 11 a.m. from the Paul A. Shaker Funeral Home, 764 Farmington Ave., New Britain, CT. Cremation will follow the funeral. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family. Relatives and friends may call at the Paul A. Shaker Funeral Home Tuesday from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Directions to funeral home – I-84 east or west, exit 37 (Fienemann Rd) right off exit - one mile down on right.
