Johnnie May  McKenzie
Johnnie May (Tompkins) McKenzie of New Britain, CT was called to rest in Jesus on February 17, 2017 at the age of 84. She was born October 25, 1932 in Jennings, FL to John and Nellie Tompkins who preceded her in death. Johnnie was married to Elisha McKenzie for 36 years until his death in 1994.

Johnnie is survived by her seven children and three step children, Sharon (Neville) Richards, Karen (Mark) Hoke, John (Maria) McKenzie, Victoria McKenzie, Russell McKenzie, Susette McKenzie, Tonya McKenzie, Elisha McKenzie, Jr., David Scott, and Mary Ann (Willie) McCrorey, several grandchildren and great grandchildren. A loving sister in law Rev. Mona McKenzie and niece Ida Yeilding.

Johnnie May (Tompkins) McKenzie was a loving wife and mother who cared deeply for her family and all she came in contact with. She attended Jackson State University where she pursued a degree in teaching. She later moved from Florida to Connecticut and proceeded to raise a family.

Homegoing Celebration for Johnnie will be held Saturday, February 25, 2017 at 11 a.m. from Bethesda Apostolic Church, 249 Stanley Street, New Britain, CT. Committal service and final resting place will be in Fairview Cemetery, 120 Smalley Street, New Britain, CT. Relatives and friends may call at Bethesda Apostolic Church Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Service of comfort provided by the Paul A.
