Theresa Margaret Zmenyak , 90, a long time resident of Cromwell passed peacefully on the 1st of March at Middlesex Hospital Hospice Unit.
Theresa was born August 21, 1926 in Washington County, Pennsylvania, and was the daughter of the late Julius and Helen (Zoltan) Simon. Theresa moved with her family to New York City where she was raised and received her education. She met and married her true love, Andrew. They started a family soon after tying the knot and eventually moved to New Britain, Connecticut to raise their family. Theresa was a kind soul whose smile would light up the room. Theresa enjoyed ballroom dancing, creating culinary ethnic foods, bingo with her senior lady friends and time with her three grandchildren who brought great joy to her in her later years.
Theresa was predeceased by her husband Andrew Zmenyak, her siblings Helen and Julius Simon. Theresa is survived by her her four children, Nancy Zmenyak of New Britain, Caroline Bengston and her husband Kenneth of Middletown, Theresa Nome of Hebron, Andrea Liberno and her husband Michael of Farmington and her beloved grandchildren Erik and Benjamin Nome and Alexandrea Liberno, her sister Elizabeth Kutny and nieces of Long Island.
A private family service will be performed celebrating Theresa's life TODAY March 3, 2017 from the Paul A. Shaker Funeral Home, 764 Farmington Ave., New Britain, CT. Burial will be private in Holy Trinity Byzantine Catholic Cemetery, New Britain. A heartfelt thank you to Apple Rehab of Cromwell and Middlesex Hospital Hospice Unit.
