Elizabeth Patricia Stewart, 90, lovingly known to all as “Baby” of Southington, CT, entered into the arms of God Wednesday, March 8, 2017 at her home. Elizabeth was born on August 22, 1926 and was the daughter of the late William and Hadassah (Lampkin) Albea in Appling, GA., prior to moving to Augusta, GA. “Baby” loved the Lord and gave her life to Christ at an early age. Upon relocating to New Britain, CT. she met and married the love of her life, Grady H. Stewart. Baby became an active member at Union now Spottswood African Episcopal Zion Church. There she was a member of the Deaconess Board, Stewardess Board, and Hospitality committee. She had also served on the Usher Board and sung in the Gospel Chorus. Outside of her church, “Baby” was a member of the White Rose Courts of Calanthe in New Britain. Her quiet yet loving demeanor was infectious and drew all that knew her to love her even more. Elizabeth was known for her amazing baking skills primarily her renowned cream cheese pound cake and her coconut cake. There was not an event at the church or organization in the area that did not request her pound cake as their culminating dessert. Baby was employed for over 30 years at Textron then Fafnir Bearings of New Britain before retiring in 1986.
Baby leaves to cherish her memory her seven children- Patricia Mabin (Grand Rapids MI), Philip Stewart (Manchester, CT), Maxwell Stewart New York, Charles (Charlie) Meriden, CT, Gregory Stewart (Bristol, CT), Gratia Stewart (East Hartford), Elizabeth (Bette) Stewart of whom she shared her home (Southington, CT); her sister Henrietta Shedrick from New York, her grandchildren- Shani Stewart, Quaashie Stewart, Angela Stewart, Jordan Carter, Jared Carter, Justin Carter, Trejion Stewart her great grandchildren - Devine Stewart, Endya Stewart, Emani Stewart, Nyla Stewart, Isaiah Carter, and Adeline Chu.
