Obituary for Sandra A. Daversa

Sandra A. Daversa
Sandra Daversa, of Middletown, CT. sister, aunt, daughter, girlfriend, friend, and warrior, departed from this world Tuesday, March 21, 2017. She was 54 years old.
Born and raised in New Britain, CT, by her father John Daversa Sr. and her siblings Deborah Daversa and John Daversa Jr., Sandy finally settled in Middletown CT with partner of 25 years Gerald Lugli and her beloved fur babies whom she rescued, Woody and Buzz, until she lost her very courageous battle with cancer. Even though the cancer had taken over her body, she never allowed it to consume her heart and soul. She never lost her love for her family, her kindness for her friends and her stubbornness to fight until her very last breathe.
Sandy worked at UCONN Health for many years. Following that, she joined Pediatric Dentistry in New Britain, CT, working as the front desk receptionist. It was here where she found a place that felt like home due to the many friends she made whom she considered family.
All that knew Sandy knew her love for football and the New York Giants. On any given Sunday Sandy would be nowhere else but in front of her TV screaming with joy or shouting with anger. It truly was a love/hate relationship and a pleasure to watch the passion she had for her team and the game. She shared this passion with her niece Angela Woodbury. Together they would break down all the plays, analyze the players, and predict the outcome of the game. They both loved the fact that they have bragging rights that the only team that gave the Patriots a run for their money is the New York Giants.
What Sandy cherish most in life is her beloved family first and foremost, her nieces Danielle Daversa and Sarah Woodbury, her nephews Tom Woodbury and his wife Rebecca and Michael Daversa, and her great niece Zoe Smyth and great nephew Chase Woodbury. She felt that if you don’t have the love of your family then you have nothing. In this aspect, she was richer than anyone.
A very special thank you to Sandy’s lifelong friend, Andrea Wasik Griffin, and her husband Jim who have been by her side throughout it all. Whether it was a quick laugh, a gentle hug, or just during quiet moments their presence was a blessing to Sandy. The family would also like to thank the Middlesex Hospital 7th floor Hospice Team for all their tender care they provided her.
Calling hours will be held on Sunday, March 26, 2017, from 2 p.m. - 5 p.m. at the Paul A. Shaker Funeral Home, 764 Farmington Avenue, New Britain, CT 06053. Please join the family in this celebration of Sandra’s life. www.shakerfuneralhome.com
