Obituary for Mary Lou Johnson (Lawson)

Mrs. Marylou (Lawson) Johnson, 87, of Hartford, CT. died Friday May 5, 2017 in the early morning hours, at St. Francis Hospital, Hartford, CT. Marylou was born in Marion, South Carolina and was the daughter of the late Moses and Victoria (Dukes) Lawson. Marylou was predeceased by her husband James Johnson, who moved onto Glory July 31, 2007. She was a faithful member of Bethesda Apostolic Church in New Britain, along with her husband. Marylou was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother always putting family first. Sadly, she was predeceased by two of her children, Daughter Shirley Johnson, and son Jerome Johnson, both of Hartford. Marylou also saw the passing of many other family members: her brothers, Willie Lawson, (Ga.), and Abraham Lawson, (N.Y.). her sisters, Gussie Mae Akiens, (N.Y), Ellen Robenson, (S. Carolina), Lillie Mae Lawson, (N.Y), and Alice Foxworth, (New Britain).
Marylou is survived by her five daughters, Hattie Mae Foster, (N. Carolina), Carol Johnson, (Hartford), Muriel Woodbury, (Hartford), Penelope Johnson, (Hartford), and Margaret Johnson, (Hartford). Her three sons, Isiah Johnson & wife Joyce, (New Britain), Marion Johnson Sr. & wife Theresa, (Hartford), and Calvin Johnson, (Hartford). She also leaves behind a special sister in law Mattie Lawson of Georgia. twenty-five grandchildren, thirty-five great grandchildren, and ten great-great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and her special cousins from New York and South Carolina the Dukes Family.
Homegoing Celebration for Marylou will be held Wednesday, May 10, 2017 at 11 a.m. at Bethesda Apostolic Church, 249 Stanley St., New Britain, CT with the Bishop Dale I. Shaw, Pastor, presiding. Committal service and final resting place will be in Fairview Cemetery, 120 Smalley St., New Britain, CT.
