Dora W. D’Amato, 92, of East Berlin, CT died Thursday, May 11, 2017 at Ledgecrest Health Care Center, Berlin. Dora was born in Epping, NH and was the daughter of the late Joseph and Dora (Gagnon) Ouellette. Dora proudly served as a WAVE in the U.S. Navy during World War II, stationed in Washington, D.C. She worked as a solderer for Mildrum Mfg. for many years until her retirement. Dora was a member of the Berlin American Legion Auxilliary. She was an avid reader and enjoyed crossword puzzles.
Dora is survived by her beloved husband William D’Amato of East Berlin, CT, her son James D’Amato and his wife Cheryl of North Haven, CT, her daughter Janet Ryan and her husband Bill of Berlin, CT, her four grandchildren – Kelly Lange and her husband Joel of Berlin, CT, Neal D’Amato and his wife Jamie of Philadelphia, PA, Stacy Ryan of Berlin, CT and Lindsey Casfikis and her husband Marcus of London, England, her two great grandchildren Paris and Isaac Lange. Dora was predeceased by her brother, Donald Ouellette and her two sisters Helen Cugno and Jeanette Zdankiewicz. The family wishes to express their thanks to Ledgecrest Health Care Center for the wonderful care provided to Dora during her stay.
A Celebration of Dora’s life will be held Wednesday, May 17, 2017 at 10 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church, 66 Cottage St., East Berlin, CT. Committal service and final resting place will be private in Wilcox Cemetery, East Berlin, CT. Relatives and friends may call at the Paul A. Shaker Funeral Home, 764 Farmington Ave., New Britain, CT Tuesday from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Directions to funeral home – I-84 east or west, exit 37 (Fienemann Rd), right off exit – one mile down on right.
