Henry R. “Hank” Buzanoski, 95, of New Britain, CT went to heaven on Thursday, May 18, 2017 at the Hospital of Central Connecticut @ New Britain General. Henry was born on December 16, 1921 in Unionville, CT and was the youngest of four children of the late Adam and Dorothy (Kowalski) Buzanoski. He attended schools in Plainville, graduating from Plainville High School where he was a member of the baseball and football teams. Henry served his country honorably in the U.S. Army during WWII and was a member of the 843 Engineering Battalion. After the war he owned Buzzy’s Service Station on Route 6 in Bristol, CT, working then at Marlin Rockwell in Plainville, CT and later as a machinist at The New Britain Machine Company. After retirement, Henry found great pleasure working in his yard and garden. He also loved history and took world events very seriously. Henry was a member of the American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars and was a member of St. Mary Church in New Britain, CT.
Henry is survived by his wife, Bette (Weber) Buzanoski of New Britain, CT, and his son John H. Buzanoski, M.D. of Honolulu, Hawaii and many other extended family members. Henry was predeceased by his brother Ted Buzanoski, his two sisters Evelyn Pikiell and Virginia Zigman and his first wife, Helen (Sumoski) Buzanoski.
Funeral rites for Henry will be held Tuesday, May 23, 2017 at 8:30 a.m. with the procession departing at 9 a.m. from the Paul A. Shaker Funeral Home, 764 Farmington Ave., New Britain, CT. followed by a Liturgy of Christian burial at 10 a.m. at St. Ann Church, 101 North St., New Britain, CT. Entombment with full military honors will be in St. Mary’s Chapel Mausoleum, St. Mary Cemetery, 1141 Stanley St., New Britain, CT. The American flag will be presented to Henry’s wife, Bette. Relatives and friends may call at the Paul A. Shaker Funeral Home, Monday from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Directions to funeral home – I-84 East or West, exit 37 (Fienemann Rd), right off exit – one mile down on right.
