Nelson "Tex" J. Guimond, 82, of New Britain, CT died Tuesday, May 23, 2017. Nelson was born in Wallagrass, Maine on July 24, 1934 and was the son of the late Damien and Laura (Dumais) Guimond. He arrived in New Britain in 1952 and worked as an auto mechanic in various auto dealerships and owned and operated two service stations, Nelsons Texaco and College Service Station. Nelson served his country honorably in the U.S. Army. He enjoyed singing country music while playing guitar and took pride in completing his do-it yourself projects. Nelson was sociable, friendly and enjoyed meeting people and was passionate about spending time with his family. He was always the life of the party.
Nelson is survived by his beloved wife Jeanette (Bibeau) Guimond of New Britain, CT, his daughter Lisa Kuczynski and her husband Joseph of Wallingford, CT, his two sons Mark Guimond of New Britain, CT and Norman Guimond and his wife Debra Bishop of Colchester, CT, his two granddaughters Gail Guimond and companion Peter Darling and Tara Kuczynski and fiancé Michael Hack, his three great granddaughters Mckenzie Dingwell, Myranda Dingwell, and Madisyn Darling. Nelson was predeceased by his brother Gerald Albert, and his two sisters Marie Osden and Mary Menard.
Funeral rites for Nelson will be held Saturday, May 27, 2017 with the procession departing at 8:30 a.m. from the Paul A. Shaker Funeral Home, 764 Farmington Ave., New Britain, CT followed by a Liturgy of Christian burial at 9:00 a.m. at St. Francis of Assisi Church, 1755 Stanley St., New Britain, CT. Burial with full military honors rendered by the U.S. Army will be in St. Mary Cemetery, 1141 Stanley St., New Britain, CT. The American flag will be presented to Nelson’s wife, Jeanette. Relatives and friends may call at the Paul A. Shaker Funeral Home Saturday from 7:30 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. Directions to funeral home – I-84 east or west, exit 37 (Fienemann Rd), right off exit – one mile down on right.
