Condolence: As an educator I hope to be half as good as those who taught me a long the way. Mrs. Ringwood was no exception. She was, for many of us a first introduction to music - a lifeline that so many of us have turned to for the joyous and stressful times in our lives, and some even made careers out of. Until the age of nine, I thought her keyboard had a special percussion feature, only to discover those were her polished nails against the plastic keys of her portable keyboard which traveled from room to room by way of responsible student and accompanied countless singing children whose voices filled the halls of a school we came to know as home. She was a fixture. Every pageant, every birthday celebration, every bazzar - she was there. As I went on to study music after HCS, I still used her mnemonic devices of "fat angels can't eat" and "empty garbage before dad flips" to read my staff. The songs that she taught us are STILL sung by Holy Cross alumni wherever two or more are gathered- decades later. Her memory is as immortal as music itself - because she gave us that incredible gift. As the school day ended she was full time mom who was always beyond proud of Alan and Dan. I have never forgotten those countless hours spent in the pool, playing Nintendo, or driveway hockey at the house - all the while being treated as one of her own. She was one of a kind and truly a gift that touched the lives of so many.
Dick, Alan, and of course my first best friend Dan. I am so sorry for your loss and am keeping you all in my thoughts wishing you strength in this difficult time.
