Carol Ann (Proulx) Attardo, 64, of Farmington, CT, passed away Thursday, June 29, 2017. She was born in Willimantic, CT, and was the daughter of the late Alfred and Pearl (Sanborn) Proulx. For many years, Carol helped run Steve's Lunch at the UConn/Storrs campus with Steven Howlett. Many of her happiest moments were when she spent time with all of the Howlett family. Carol's kindness and compassion for people lead her to become a long time in-home caregiver and companion for individuals during their later stages of life. She enjoyed reading, playing bingo, and spending time with her “pride and joys”, her two grandsons. Carol was an avid UCONN basketball fan and enjoyed making people laugh. She will always be remembered as ‘Crazy Gramma’ and her best friend, Nancy Dean's adopted sister.
A loving mother and grandmother, Carol is survived by her three sons, William Bartholomew, Jr. of Ellington, CT, Robert Bartholomew of Northglenn, CO, and Kurt Howlett of Willington, CT; two grandchildren, Kyle and Colin; a brother, Edward Proulx of Norfolk, VA, several nieces, nephews, and extended family members. She was predeceased by her brother, Gerald Proulx and her sister, Jeanette Humes.
Burial will be held privately. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Make A Wish Foundation of Connecticut, 126 Monroe Turnpike, Trumbull, CT. 06611. The Paul A. Shaker Funeral Home, 764 Farmington Ave., New Britain, CT has charge of arrangements.
