Gary Joseph Sgro, 58, of New Britain, CT returned to his heavenly home peacefully Tuesday, July 4, 2017. Gary was in the U.S. Navy and later became a Mason. He loved to cook and make people laugh, especially his mother.

Gary is survived by his sister, Diane Becker and her husband Frank, his nieces Catherine, Antoinette, Lauren, and his nephew Frank Sgro III, two great nieces, his Uncle, Peter Sanzo and Aunt Adeline, his Aunt Yolanda Sgro and several cousins. Gary was predeceased by his parents Frank and Mary (Sanzo) Sgro and his brother Frank Sgro Jr.

A funeral Mass will be held on Monday at St. Ann’s Church in New Britain at 9 a.m. Burial will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery. There are no calling hours. In Lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Friendship Service Center, New Britain. The Paul A. Shaker Funeral Home, New Britain, CT has charge of arrangements.
