Obituary for Richard Joseph Antous, Sr.

Richard Joseph Antous, Sr.
Richard Joseph Antous, Sr., 89, of Danbury, Ct. died Wednesday, August 9, 2017 at UCONN Health Center, Farmington, Ct. Richard was born in Danbury, Ct. and was the son of the late Antous and Florence (Shaker) Antous. Richard graduated from Henry Abbott Tech in 1948 and served honorably in WWII with the US Navy. He was a Plank Owner on the USS Charles Ware Destroyer in which he commissioned the ship. Richard was general contractor and co-owner of Antous and Radachowsky – builder of fine homes, for many years. He was a member of St. Anthony’s Maronite Catholic Church and the Lebanon American Club, Danbury. Richard was an avid Boston Red Sox fan and UCONN Husky fan, especially the women’s basketball team.
Richard was very proud of his military service to his country and community and was known for his love of his craft – carpentry. But, first and foremost, the love of his life was his family and friends. The Antous family wishes to extend their heartfelt appreciation to the Veterans Hospital, Rocky Hill, for their compassionate care they have shown Richard over the years.
Richard is survived by his son, Richard J. Antous, Jr. and his wife, Jennifer of Danbury, Ct., his two brothers, Raymond Antous and his wife, Najlah, and Ronald Antous; his sister, Marion Shaker, all of Danbury, Ct.; several cousins, and several nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and two step grandsons, Braden Daley and Seth Daley. Richard was predeceased by his beloved wife, Mary Antous, his sister Evelyn Chory, his brother-in-law Tony Chory, his sister-in-law, Joan Antous and brother-in-law, Edward Shaker.

Naji Kiwan, Pastor, presiding. Burial with full military honors rendered by the United States Navy will be in Wooster Cemetery, 20 Ellsworth Avenue, Danbury, Ct.
