Sebastiano A. Saverino, 71 of Charlestown, R.I. formerly of New Britain, CT died Saturday, September 16, 2017 at home. Sebastiano was born in Melilli, Province of Siracusa, Sicily, Italy and was the son of the late Vittorio and Concetta (Dequastle) Saverino. He worked for Fafnir Bearing for twenty-eight years as a set-up man and Creed Monarch for fourteen years. Sebastiano retired in 2010 and moved to Rhode Island. He loved to paint (an artist), fisherman, sportsman and liked to put down tiles and help his friends. Sebastiano was very generous to anyone.
Sebastiano is survived by his beloved wife Maria L. Saverino of Charlestown, R.I. his two sons Vittorio Saverino and Dino Saverino and his wife Christine all of New Britain, CT, his two brothers Vincenzo Saverino and his wife Maria and Giuseppe Saverino and his wife Concetta all of Plainville, CT, his three sisters Maria Giombanco of Italy, Carmela Castro of Middletown, CT and Anna Raimondi and her husband Giuseppe of Plainville, CT, his two grandchildren Anthony Dubay and Haley Saverino as well as many nieces and nephews. Sebastiano was predeceased by his son, Michael D. Saverino, his brother Umberto Saverino, his sister Franca DiMarco and his brother-in-law Sebastiano Castro.
Funeral rites for Sebastiano will be held Friday, September 22, 2017 at 8:30 a.m. with the procession departing at 9 a.m. from the Paul A. Shaker Funeral Home, 764 Farmington Ave., New Britain, CT., followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at St. Francis of Assisi Church, 1755 Stanley St., New Britain, CT. Committal service and final resting place will be in St. Mary Cemetery, 1141 Stanley St., New Britain, CT. Relatives and friends may call at the Paul A.
