Obituary for Agostino Apruzzese

Agostino Apruzzese, 85, of New Britain, CT passed away peacefully with his family by his side Monday, September 25, 2017 at Saint Mary's Hospital in Waterbury, CT. Agostino was born in the town of Cucciano, Provincia di Benevento, Italy on December 7, 1931 where he worked as a farmer and later in the U.S. as a machinist for Emhart Corporation/Corbin and Russwin in Berlin, CT for twenty-five years. He was the son of the late Gerardo and Pasqualina (Santucci) Apruzzese. Agostino was a member of Saint Ann Church in New Britain CT. He was a firm defender of his faith and family. Always observing the religious and cultural traditions of his birthplace especially Christmas and Easter holidays. Agostino loved nature and spending time outside in his garden. He often worked from sun up to sunset, tending to his plants and fruit trees and whistling to the birds. Agostino loved sharing his harvest with family, friends, neighbors and all he came across. His presence will be deeply missed and never forgotten.

Agostino is survived by his beloved wife Giuseppina of 57 years, of New Britain, CT, his three children Gerardo Apruzzese and his wife Elizabeth of Farmington, CT, Pasquale Apruzzese and his wife Lori of Plainville CT, and Pasqualina McIntyre and her husband Jeffrey of Southington CT, his brother Raffaele Apruzzese and his sister Carmela Pecorelli both of Switzerland, his four grandchildren Ryan, Zachary, Alexandra, and Bella and several nieces and nephews. Agostino was predeceased by his sister, Norina Santucci and his brother, Antonio Apruzzese. We like to thank VITAS Healthcare from the bottom of our hearts for the tender loving care they provided.

Funeral rites for Agostino will be held Friday, September 29 2017 at 8:30 a.m. with the procession departing at 10 a.m. from the Paul A. Shaker Funeral Home, 764 Farmington Ave, New Britain CT. Followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. at St. Ann Church, 101 North Street, New Britain, CT. Entombment will be in St. Mary's Chapel Mausoleum, St. Mary Cemetery, 1141 Stanley St., New Britain, CT. Relatives and friends may call at the Paul A. Shaker Funeral Home, Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 10 a.m. Directions to funeral home - I 84 East or West exit 37 (Fienemann Rd) – right off exit – one mile down on right.
