Edward W. Kelly, 80, of New Britain, CT a former resident of Granville, NY died Monday, October 16, 2017. Edward was Exalted Ruler of New Britain Elks #957 from 1978-1979 and district chairmen of lodge activities in 1980 before becoming state chairmen in 1981. He served as youth activities director for eighteen years and served as a trustee. Was a commissioner on the board of finance and served on the tax board as water board commissioner and as an elected constable for two terms in New Britain. Edward was in the U.S. Army Reserves for seven years during the Korean War. He retired from Honeywell Skinner after twenty-nine years. Edward also served eleven years with the Connecticut Department of Corrections. Edward and his wife Lorraine had three children and six grandchildren. He had dual citizenship with the U.S. and Ireland and made approximately thirty trips with family and friends to Ireland.
Edward is survived by his beloved wife Lorraine (Gould) Kelly, his daughter, Lori Kelly Fleming of Marshall, NC and her husband Gary, Lori’s daughter Sarah Arthur. His son, Edward and his wife Mary Anne of Norwalk, CT, and children Stephen and Antoinette, his son Jeffrey and his wife Doreen of Pawlet, Vermont, and children Brianna, Catie, Jeffrey and Lisa, his two brothers - Brother James Kelly and his wife Rhoda of South Glens Falls, New York and their children Kimberly, Craig and Eric. Relatives and friends may call at the Paul A. Shaker Funeral Home, 764 Farmington Ave., New Britain, CT Saturday, October 28, 2017 from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Military honors for Mr. Kelly will be accorded by the U.S. Army Saturday at 4:30 p.m. at the funeral home. The American flag will be presented to Mr. Kelly’s wife Lorraine. Cremation will follow the wake. Burial will be private in Mettowee Valley Cemetery, Pawlet, VT.
