Edwin H. Zielinski, 89, of New Britain, CT died Monday, October 30, 2017 at the Hospital of Central CT @ New Britain General. Edwin was born in New Britain, CT and was the son of the late John and Josephine (Tkacz) Zielinski. He worked as a carpenter for Downes Construction Co., and was a member of the carpenter’s union. Edwin served his country honorably in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. He was a member of Holy Cross Church, New Britain. Edwin earned his Associates Degree in Accounting from Tunxis Community College. He was a sports enthusiast and loved UCONN sports.
Edwin is survived by his three sons – Ron Zielinski of West Hartford, CT, Daniel Zielinski and his wife Susan and John Zielinski and his companion Katie Sziabowski all of New Britain, CT, his four grandchildren R.J., Brian, Alison and Kimberly. Edwin was predeceased by his wife Pauline B. Zielinski.
A Celebration of Edwin’s life will be held Saturday, November 4, 2017 at 10 a.m. at Holy Cross Church, Farmington Ave., New Britain, CT. Burial with full military honors rendered by the U.S. Air Force for Mr. Zielinski will be held in Sacred Heart Cemetery, 662 Burritt St., New Britain, CT. The American flag will be presented to Edwin’s son, Ron. There are no calling hours. The Paul A. Shaker Funeral Home, 764 Farmington Ave., New Britain, CT has charge of arrangements.
