Obituary for Anne G. Davidian (Zappulla)

Mrs. Anne Glory (Zappulla) Davidian passed away peacefully at the Monsignor Bojnowski Manor on Thursday, November 23, 2017. She was 96 years of age. She was the firstborn child of Luigi and Antoinette (Sequenzia) Zappulla, Sicilian immigrants who came through Ellis Island at the turn of the last century. Anne was predeceased by her husband Haig, who passed away in July of 2000. They had been married for over 55 years. Anne was born in New Britain on July 8th, 1921 and spent her entire life there. She attended local schools and worked at Fafnir Bearing prior to her marriage, where she met Haig. She continued to work until she had children. Later in her life, when her children attended college, she returned to work at Emhart Corporation in Berlin, CT and eventually became the Chief Telephone Operator there, a job she loved. She was a lifelong member of St. Ann’s Church and volunteered there as well as at Msgr. Bojnowski Manor. Anne described herself as having had “a perfect life.” She was a devout Catholic, had a very loving and peaceful soul, a strong will, and was blessed with good health for the majority of her life. Her love for her husband, her children and grandchildren, her extended family and friends was unparalleled. She loved to entertain, and enjoyed family cook-outs, holidays, and Saturday evening set-back games with Haig’s cousins. After Haig passed away, she began to organize and play cards with various groups of women several days a week. At times, she was playing cards 7 days a week. She enjoyed her card-playing days very much and also enjoyed cooking for her friends. She loved watching Yankees games and also the UCONN girls’ basketball team. She entered Msgr. Bojnowski Manor at the age of 92 when she could no longer care for herself. Anne and her children would like to thank the staff at Msgr. Bojnowski Manor who cared for her with love and kindness during her residence there; in particular, Dr. Zebrowski and his team who provided great medical care for her; Martin, Agatha, Pat, Jen, Millie, Maggie, Lydia, Denise, Philomena, Kathy, Sylvia; dear Carmen who accompanied her to oncology appointments; Carol and Anthony (Tony) who attentively cared for her nutritional needs; Sr. Catherine; and the many other staff members who worked at The Manor and cared for her. The family would also like to thank Dr. Jason Chang and his staff at the Hospital of Central CT/Oncology Infusion Center where she received excellent clinical care over the past four years.
Anne is survived by her two children: a daughter Nancy (Davidian) Coleman and her husband Walt of Johns Creek, GA.; and a son, Richard and his wife Venice of Pickens, South Carolina. She leaves four grandchildren: Mark Goshdigian of Atlanta, Ga.; Catherine (Davidian) Motte and her husband Chris of Tampa, FL.; Stephanie Davidian of Charlotte, N.C.; and Richard Davidian of Tampa, FL. She also has two great grandsons: Pierson and Hunter Motte of Tampa, FL. Anne was predeceased by a sister, Angeline Rogala, of Kensington, CT. She also leaves a dear brother and sister-in-law, Steve and Beatrice Zappulla, also of Kensington, with whom she shared a very close relationship. She leaves several nieces, one nephew, and many cousins. A special thanks to her nephew, Rob Zappulla and wife Gina, and her niece, Laurie Monteleone and her husband Joe, for the love and kindness they extended to her over the years. Special thanks also to her friends who frequented the Manor to play cards with her and who visited her, called her, and stayed in touch. Anne was most appreciative of all the love sent her way, and a special thanks to Rose Fazio who called and visited her often. Anne’s family is most appreciative of the time they had with her, the many ways she shaped their lives, and will always remember her with love and a grateful heart.
