Marie Smith, 90 of New Britain, CT went home to be with the Lord Thursday, December 7, 2017 at the Hospital of Central CT @ New Britain General. Marie was born in Ailey, Ga January 21, 1927 and was the daughter of the late Thomas and Coreen (Johnson) Glasper. She was a beautiful and caring person who worked over twenty years for Visiting Nurse’s Association.
Marie is survived by her six children, her five sons - James Smith of New Britain, CT, Mack Smith and his wife Judy of Glendale, AZ, Raymond Smith and his wife Kathy of Murrells Inlet, SC, Grant Smith, III of Vernon, CT, Samuel Smith and his wife Janet of New Britain, CT, and her daughter Darlene Ankton and her husband Glenn Ray of Jacksonville, FL, and Marie’s only surviving sister Corine Childs of Newington CT, and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces & nephews. Marie was predeceased by her beloved husband of sixty years Grant Smith, Jr.
Homegoing Celebration for Marie will be held Thursday, December 14, 2017 at 11 a.m. at St. James Missionary Baptist Church, 45 Daly Ave., New Britain, CT with the Rev. Dr. John W. Walker, Pastor, presiding. Committal service and final resting place will be in Fairview Cemetery, 120 Smalley St., New Britain, CT. Relatives and friends may call at St. James Missionary Baptist Church, Thursday from 10 a.m. To 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Marie’s name to St James Missionary Baptist Church, 45 Daly Ave., New Britain, CT.
