Carmen Pena, 94, of Newington, CT passed away Sunday, December 17, 2017 at the Hospital of Central CT @ New Britain General. Carmen was born September 5, 1923 in Guayama, Puerto Rico and was the daughter of the late Rafael and Maria (Rodriguez) Montanez. “Abuelita” lived life to the fullest, she loved to dance and always had a smile on her face, she will be missed immensely.
Carmen is survived by her four loving children, her two daughters – Francisca Santana and Milagros Mercado both of Newington, CT and her two sons - Harry Vasquez of Middletown, CT and Ruben Millan and his wife Francisca of Cromwell, CT. She also leaves behind eight grandchildren, fifteen great grandchildren and seven great-great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews
Funeral rites for Carmen will be held Thursday, December 21, 2017 at 8:30 a.m. with the procession departing at 9 a.m. from the Paul A. Shaker Funeral Home, 764 Farmington Ave., New Britain, CT. Followed by a Liturgy of Christian burial at 10 a.m. at St. Francis of Assisi Church, 1755 Stanley St., New Britain, CT. Committal service and final resting place will be in St. Mary Cemetery, 1141 Stanley St., New Britain, CT. Relatives and friends may call at the Paul A.
