Obituary for Lucian M. Domkowski

Lucian Michael Domkowski, 87, of New Britain, CT died Monday, January 8, 2018 at Hospital of Central CT @ New Britain General. Lucian was born and raised in New Britain, CT. He attended New Britain High School where he was an avid violin player. After graduating high school in 1948 Lucian joined the U.S. Army. While in the army band he switched to the trombone which he continued with throughout his military career. While touring in Europe he met the love of his life Caroline. They married in Salzburg Austria and had three children all born in different countries. Fred in Austria, Sherry in the United States, and Sue in Germany. When his mother became ill the family returned to the U.S. settling in New Britain. Lucian’s military career continued as he was stationed in Fort Devens Massachusetts for four years, then Germany for two years finishing up at Fort Polk Louisiana for the last three and a half years. Finally retiring as a Master Sargent E8. He was most proud of his children and grandchildren. He was very spiritual and comforted by his faith. Lucian was an active member of the Holy Cross Church and was a member of the holy name society.

Lucian leaves behind his beloved wife Caroline of 64 years of New Britain, CT. His son - Fred Domont and his wife Lee of Edgartown, MA, his two daughters - Sherry Rouleau and her husband Jeff of East Hampton, CT, and Sue Kaeka and her husband Danny of West Tisbury, MA, his six grandchildren - Ali, Jordan Peterson, Leolani, Fin, Eve, Jenny and his seven great grandchildren - Ashley, Colleen, Katie, Grace, Andrew, Emma and Page.

Funeral rites for Mr. Domkowski will be held Friday, January 12, 2018 with the procession departing at 10:30 a.m. from the Paul A. Shaker Funeral Home, 764 Farmington Ave., New Britain, CT. Followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 11:30 a.m. at Holy Cross Church, Farmington Ave., New Britain, CT. Burial with full military honors rendered by the United States Army will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery, 662 Burritt St., New Britain, CT. Relatives and friends may call at the Paul A. Shaker Funeral Home, Friday from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Directions to funeral home – I-84 east or west, exit 37 (Fienemann Rd.) right off exit – one mile down on right.
