Obituary for Raymond J. Guerard

Raymond J. Guerard, 87, of New Britain, CT died peacefully Saturday, March 31, 2018 at Masonic Care Wallingford, CT surrounded by his family. Raymond was born in Bristol, CT and was the son of the late Joseph and Yvonne (Crochetiere) Guerard. He was a member of the French Business Men’s Association and treasurer for many years and a member of the Knights of Columbus. Ray owned Guerard Electric Company for several years. He was also a charter member of St. Francis of Assisi Church. Ray served his country honorably in the United States Air Force during the Korean War.
Ray is survived by his son - Dennis Guerard and his wife Dale of Unionville, CT, his two daughters - Debbie DeBowsky and her husband David of Plano, TX and Karen Cahill and her husband Tim of Hamden, CT, his sister Janet Ouellette of New Britain, CT, his seven grandchildren - Shannon Guerard Heydt and her husband Justin, Danielle, Katelyn and Ryan DeBowsky, Christina, Christopher and Connor Cahill and one great grandchild Liam Heydt. Raymond was predeceased by his wife Elsie (Desjardins) Guerard.
Funeral rites for Raymond will be held Friday, April 6, 2018 at 8:30 a.m. with the procession departing at 9 a.m. from the Paul A. Shaker Funeral Home, 764 Farmington Ave., New Britain, CT., followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at St. Francis of Assisi Church, 1755 Stanley St., New Britain, CT. Entombment with full military honors rendered by the United States Air Force will be in St. Mary’s Garden Mausoleum, St. Mary Cemetery, 1141 Stanley St., New Britain, CT. The American flag will be presented to Mr. Guerard’s son, Dennis. Relatives and friends may call at the Paul A. Shaker Funeral Home, Thursday, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Directions to funeral home – I-84 east or west, exit 37 (Fienemann Rd), right off exit – one mile down on right. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Hospice at Masonic Care, 22 Masonic Ave., Wallingford, CT. 06492.
