Sophie T. Blumes, 64, of New Britain, CT died Sunday, June 17, 2018 at home. Sophie was born in Bialystok, Poland was was the daughter of Boleslawa (Konopka) Dabrowski and the late John Dabrowski. She worked as a secretary for the City of New Britain Corporation Counsel for several years. Sophie was a member of Sacred Heart Church, New Britain and loved cooking, gardening and reading.
Sophie is survived by her husband - Fred Blumes, her two sons – David Blumes and Daniel Blumes and his wife Irene all of New Britain, CT, her daughter – Diana Somma and her husband Robert, her brother - Joe Dabrowski and his wife Debbie all of Bristol, CT, her two sisters – Heidi Lee and her husband Norbert of San Francisco, CA and Dory Barnard and her husband David of Walnut Creek, CA her four grandchildren – Arsen, Nathan, Eleanor and Juliana and several nieces and nephews. Sophie was predeceased by her sister Elizabeth Bassett.
Funeral Rites for Sophie will be held Thursday, June 21, 2018 at 8 a.m. with the processing departing at 8:30 a.m. from the Paul A. Shaker Funeral Home, 764 Farmington Ave., New Britain, CT., followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church, 158 Broad St., New Britain, CT. Committal Service and final resting place will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery, 662 Burritt St., New Britain, CT. Relatives and friends may call at the Paul A.
