John N. Ciarcia Jr., 71 of Old Lyme, CT died Saturday, August 4, 2018 at Shoreline Clinic in Old Saybrook of complications due to his eight year battle with parkinson’s disease. John was born in New Britain, CT June 11, 1947 and was the son of the late John and Virginia (Pzynski) Ciarcia. He resided in Old Lyme most of his life. John was a kind soul who endured his long illness with grace. He loved the outdoors and taking care of the many needs on the farm with Kathy. His positive nature will be missed by all who knew and loved him. John was a kind soul who endured his long illness with grace. John was awarded of the Carnegie Medal of Heroism.
John is survived by his long time partner and outstanding caregiver Kathy Woodruff, his daughter Amy Ciarcia , three grandchildren: Timmy Ciarcia, Cameron Pottle, Luke Pottle, and one great grandchild Emma Ciarcia all of Steuben Maine, 5 siblings and their spouses, Connie (Wassmer) Ciarcia wife of Edward of Manchester, George and Barbara (King) Ciarcia of Kensington, Donald and Lorene (Ciarcia) Peronace of Southington, MaryAnn Ciarcia of Unionville, Robert and Sherrill (Ziegler) Ciarcia of Winsted, and Gary and Cathy (Ciarcia) Pasler of Unionville, and many nieces and nephews. John was pre-deceased by his brothers Joseph and Edward Ciarcia.
A memorial service will be held at St. Mary Star of the Sea in Unionville CT. on Saturday, August 11, 2018 at 10 a.m. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the Paul A. Shaker Funeral Home, 764 Farmington Ave. New Britain and burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.
