Obituary for Penny J. Walker

Penny J. Walker, 82 of Bristol, CT, husband of Mozelle D. (Wrice) Walker, passed peacefully at home with his family his side Saturday October 6, 2018 in Bristol, CT. Penny was born on May 11, 1936 in Middletown, CT and was the son of the late Penny J. and Lucille (Anderson) Walker. He served his country honorably in the United States Airforce, serving from September1955 to June 1959. He was member of the Spottswood AME Zion Church, New Britain, CT. Penny graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School in 1955. He was employed by United Technology Hamilton Standard before his retirement in 1989.
Penny was dedicated to his family who he especially loved his grand and great grandchildren. He was an avid bowler who loved to bowl and was a diehard Washington Redskins fan. Penny also enjoyed watching Serena and Venus Williams on the court and Tiger Woods on the green he would always say “Tiger will be back”, and he was blessed to see him win a major title before his passing.
In addition to his wife Penny is also survived by his children; a son; Perry (Pamela) Robertson, of New Haven, CT., his daughters; Taffie Ann (Mark) Dudley of Bristol, CT Tammie, Wendie and Ashley Walker and Shajuana Codero all of Bristol, CT, Constance Godet of Florida, two brothers Arthur Walker of New Haven, CT and John Walker of Hollywood, Fla; David (Mary Lou) Cooper of Middletown, CT., Arthur Cooper of Tucson, AZ., two sisters Ruby R. Cooper and Carolyn Hatcher of Middletown, CT; his loving in-laws Betty Lou (Mark) Roderick, Dutchess Wrice, Gilbert (Sharon) Wrice, Patricia Wrice, Shirley Walker, Rev. Irene (Thaddeus) Singleton, and Taffie (Henry) Bentley. Penny also leaves his childhood/high school close friends Harold Parmalee and Jane and Guy Mazzotta, whom he loved like family; as well as host of nephews, nieces, cousins and friends, too numerous to name, but you knew Penny you could add your name on that list.
Penny was predeceased by his two brothers Ralph Walker Sr and Charles S. Walker; his two daughters Shenia Walker and Renee Singleton; a grandson Thaddeus L. Singleton; a granddaughter Tanya Singleton, his mother and father in-law Dr. Rev Harold, Sr and Peggy Wrice, sister-in-law Rev. Gladys Robertson, and brother-in-law Harold Wrice, Jr.
Homegoing Celebration for Penny will be held Saturday, October 13, 2018 at 11 a.m. at Spottswood A.M.E. Zion Church, 25 Crestwood La., New Britain, CT with the Rev. Jacqueline King, Pastor, presiding. Burial with full military honors rendered by the United States Air Force will be in Quinnipiac Cemetery, Marion Ave., Plantsville, CT. The American flag will be presented to Penny’s wife, Mozelle. Relatives and friends may call at Spottswood A.M.E.
