Sallie was born in Pitt County, North Carolina and graduated from South Ayden High School where she was a star basketball player and was offered a full ride scholarship to North Carolina A&T State University. But instead chose to marry her high school sweetheart Edward ‘AC’ King and move to Connecticut where they raised together three children. While in Danbury, Sallie was employed with the school system as a bus driver. She was also employed by Davis and Geck, H.J. After many years she later found love again, married Junius Dickerson and moved to Hurt, Virginia. There she worshipped and continued to serve at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Nathaniel Jones. Sallie loved to sing, cook, and sew.
