Thelma J. (Hutchinson) Wrice, 86, of New Britain, CT passed away Friday November 2, 2018 surrounded by her loving family at The Hospital of Central CT @ New Britain General. Thelma was born in Phoenix AZ and was the daughter of the late Jasper and Queen Esther (Singleton) Hutchinson. She came to CT as a young woman with her beloved aunt Mrs. Clara Fort. Thelma met and married her late husband Wiley D. Wrice, Sr shortly after. She was employed by Fafnir Bearings Co. where she worked as a machinist for over twenty years, until her retirement in 1994.
Thelma is survived by her seven children, Wiley D. Wrice, Jr. Veronica K. Lucy, Roderick D. Wrice, I (Latha) Anthony E. Wrice, Sr. Denise Wrice (Richard Allen), Michael Wrice and Crystale E. Naylor (David). She leaves to carry her memory seventeen grandchildren, nineteen great-grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren, seven brothers and two sisters (predeceased by her sister Patricia Lynn Ray-Carter) and her cherished sister-in-law Mrs. Lillian Billue-Smith-Wrice-Harris and her dear friend Mrs. Dot Eagleton. The Wrice family would like to send their thanks and appreciation to the Hospital of Central CT, especially the nurses and doctors of C-5 and the ICU as well as Dr. Byeff and the entire staff at George Bray Cancer Center for their many years of service and care.
Homegoing Celebration for Thelma will be held Friday, November 9, 2018 at 12 p.m. at Spottswood A.M.E. Zion Church, 25 Crestwood Ln., New Britain, CT with the Rev. Jacqueline King, Pastor, presiding. Cremation will follow the Funeral and Burial will be Private in Fairview Cemetery, New Britain, CT. Relatives and friends may call at Spottswood A.M.E.
