Oh Joey. I miss you every single day.I have a picture of you that Michael took of you on my porch, with plants and small tiki torches in the background. I decided to download that picture into my computer at work.....and I put it on my desktop. I get to see you every morning, when I come in, and I say good morning to you every single day that I'm in my office. I miss your laughter. I miss that mischievous look I see in your eyes when you're up to something. I miss talking to you late at night, when neither of us could sleep. I just plain miss you. At least I have all these great memories of you. And I also have many memories of the times that you suffered. I am so grateful you chose me to tell those tales of pain, emotional and physical and every thing in between. I love you with my entire being. And that love is still with me, even though you are not with us, in your human state. You are all around us. You are the whisperings of the trees, the blades of grass that shimmer in the sun after a summer rain, the wind that swirls dirt and sand on the hot tar of a random street, you are the ocean surf, crashing on jagged cliffs on some mountain on the shores of New England, you are the colors of a sunset, blues and purples and pinks and creams. You are the chatter of squirrels that hop from limb to limb. You may be gone. But you are definitely not forgotten, my friend. Carry on!

while Joe was a part of our Community he infected all those around him with his willingness to serve and his smile.

He was willing to set up, or tear down for services, events, or community outreach.He helped in the kitchen, and if he wasn't helping in the kitchen he was making new friends and enjoying the laughter that his stories often brought.

He helped out with high school students and junior high students, by telling them honest lessons he learned through life, and warning them of the long-term effects of the choices they were making. He shared his life openly but without negative perspective. He wanted people to love life and enjoy the blessings that were all around them.He also drove a van load of students from African orphanage for weeks while they were on tour With the Destiny African Children's Choir. There was no language barrier with Joe and the students because they recognize and spoke hope, joy, and the love of God just like he did.

We are saddened by this accident and we will miss the opportunity to cross paths with you again on this planet.

Joe and I never lost touch over the years.He was always there for me over the years as a brother in the fellowship as I struggled to find my way through addiction. Happily that dream was realized 6 yes ago because of good people just like Joey P. Now the story: a couple months ago very early on a Sunday morning I hear my phone signal an incoming text. I look and see its from Joe (not surprised, he had a habit of texting me early on Sunday, my day off.) The only thing I see is a sound bar. I didn't even know my phone had this feature. I click the button and hear this long growling sound. Suddenly I realized it was a fart. Joe had sent me a voice text "FART"! And he ended it with, " Hey John, this is Phil Macrackin (Fill my crack in) just wanted to say hi..love ya brother." This was classic Joe! I will miss you dearly my brother and I know God has a good soldier by His side. REST IN PEACE.

I did not know Joe. However, my 8 year-old daughter came home several weeks ago very excited because she had gotten a new bus driver. "His name is Joe, Mommy, and he is soooo nice!" Her last driver of four years didn't interact with the kids. She got them to school and back safely, but that was it. My daughter couldn't wait to ride the bus each day. I even offered her a ride home from school one day (normally she would love for me to pick her up), but she apologetically declined my offer and explained that she had a package of M & Ms that she wanted to give to Joe. So, the next afternoon when her bus pulled up I made sure I was outside to see what all the fuss was about. When she got off the bus and started up the driveway, he stuck his hand out the window, waves, and yelled "Bye Grace!" She was all smilies. No other bus driver that my kids have ever been so friendly. I said, " Wow, he knows your name!" She replied, "He already knows EVERYBODY'S name." Joe would play the song What Does the Fox Say for the kids. He would also point out the pasture of sheep on route 4 to the kids and stop just long enough for them to catch a glimpse. These might seem like simple things, but they were a big deal for my daughter.. I just want his family and friends to know that though Joe was only her driver for a couple weeks, he brought a lot of joy to my daughter and her friends. Needless to say, she is very sad to hear of Joe's passing.
