Kathleen M. (McNamara) Machowski, 74, of Farmington, CT. died Friday, August 19, 2016 at home surrounded by her loving family. Kathleen was born in New Britain, CT and was the daughter of the late William and Helen (Malinowski) McNamara. Kathleen enjoyed cooking, gardening and spending quality time with her grandchildren, Kathleen, a devout catholic, worked at St. Jerome Church, New Britain, Marriott, Farmington and also for her brother Mayor William J. McNamara as an administrator for ten years. She and her husband John owned Farmington Crafts Common and McNamara’s Irish Gifts in Watch Hill, R.I. Kathleen was also the chairperson of Main Street U.S.A.
Kathleen is survived by her beloved husband and caregiver, John Machowski of Farmington, CT. her daughter Kelly (Shaker) Tuscano and her husband Paul of Palm Harbor, Florida, her son Paul A. Shaker, Jr. and his wife Barbara of New Britain, CT. and her daughter Kari (Shaker) Hudson and her husband Gary of Bristol, CT. her brother Mayor William J. McNamara and his wife Saundra of New Britain, CT. her three grandchildren Ricky, Brigid and Dillon, and two great-grandchildren, Cora and Bryce, her two aunts Irene Mozden and Dolores Ziembko both of New Britain, CT. her former husband and father of her children - Paul A. Shaker, Sr. of New Britain, CT. and his companion Beverly and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Kathleen was predeceased by her daughter – Kathleen “Katie” Shaker, her nephew Kevin J. McNamara and niece Brigid McNamara.
Funeral rites for Kathleen will be held Wednesday, August 24, 2016 at 8:30 a.m. with the procession departing at 9 a.m. from the Paul A. Shaker Funeral Home, 764 Farmington Ave., New Britain, CT. followed by a Liturgy of Christian burial at 10 a.m. at Holy Cross Church Farmington Ave., New Britain, CT. Committal service and final resting place will be in St. Mary Cemetery, 1141 Stanley St., New Britain, CT. Relatives and friends may call at the Paul A. Shaker Funeral Home Tuesday from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. Directions to funeral home I-84 east or west – exit 37 (Fienemann Rd) – right off exit – one mile down on right.
