Robert Roscoe Israel, 79 of New Britain, CT., departed this life Tuesday, December 27, 2016 at Bridgeport Hospital. Robert was born in Marion, South Carolina on August 11, 1937 and was the son of the late Robert Lee Israel, Sr. and Rosa (Washington) Israel. Robert was employed at Marlin Rockwell for several years and moved on to General Electric where he worked for more than 20 years and retired.
Robert is survived by his daughter Sheila Neal of New Britain, CT., son Robert Lee Israel (Denise) of Winsted, CT., sister Pansy Kennedy of New Britain, CT., brother Kimaray Israel (Angelic), of New Britain, CT., foster sister Alice Hardwick, goddaughter Gwendolyn Thomas and best friend Doris McFarland of New Britain, CT., seven grandchildren, sixteen great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Robert was predeceased by his life-long partner Marylou Neal, his son Jeffrey Israel and god brother Robert Johnson.
Homegoing Celebration for Roscoe will be held Tuesday, January 3, 2017 at 11 a.m. from the Paul A. Shaker Funeral Home, 764 Farmington Ave., New Britain, CT. with the Rev. Ron E. Surrey, Pastor, presiding. Cremation will follow the funeral. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family. Relatives and friends may call at the Paul A.
