Florence Gross, 91, of Farmington, CT passed away Thursday, February 23, 2017 at Autumn Lake Healthcare at New Britain. Florence was born in New York City on January 1, 1926 and was the daughter of the late Julius and Leah (Goldner) Kessler. She lived most of her life in the Bronx, NY where she was a full time mom and part time public school paraprofessional. Florence lived a full retirement with her husband traveling and enjoying her retirement lifestyle in Florida before coming back to the North to be with her son, daughter-in-law, step-grandson and her husband in Connecticut where she also had the care and love of her companion and caregiver Isabel. She was a most loving daughter, wife, mother, grandmother and (two days earlier) great grandmother. Florence’s thoughts, feelings, struggles and joys were never without her family at her center, we love and miss her.
Florence leaves behind her two sons, Allan Gross and his wife Annette of Carmel, Indiana, Carl Gross and his wife Deborah of Farmington, CT. She was a loving grandmother to Matthew Gross and a loving part of the lives of step-grandson Matthew McLeod, Evan and Josh Philippi and a loving aunt for Eric Gross and Shelly Bond. Florence was predeceased by her devoted partner in life, husband Arthur Gross, her loving aunt Tillie Storch, mother-in-law Sarah Gross and daughter-in-law Beth Odell.
A Graveside service will be held Tuesday, February 28, 2017 at 1 p.m. at the State Veterans Cemetery, 317 Bow Lane, Middletown, CT. There are no calling hours. The Paul A.
