Edward G. Kolodziej, 92, of New Britain, CT died Sunday, April 2, 2017 at the Hospital of Central CT @ New Britain General. Edward was born in New Britain, CT and was the son of the late Gustave and Catherine (Okrasa) Kolodziej. He worked as a construction worker for Local Union #478 for several years. Edward served his country honorably during WWII in the United States Navy.
Edward is survived by his two sons – Stephen Kolodziej of New Britain, CT and Rick Kolodziej and his wife Teresa of McDonough, GA., his three sisters – Helen Rozanski of Old Lyme, CT, Mary Pacyna of Durham, CT and Dorothy Scapellatti of Kensington, CT, his two grandchildren – Richard David, Jaime and several nieces and nephews. Edward was predeceased by his wife Shirley (Mackiewicz) Kolodziej.
Funeral rites for Edward will be held Friday, April 7, 2017 with the procession departing at 9:15 a.m. from the Paul A. Shaker Funeral Home, 764 Farmington Ave., New Britain, CT., followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at Holy Cross Church, Farmington Ave., New Britain, CT. Burial with full military honors rendered by the United States Navy will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery, 662 Burritt St., New Britain, CT. The American flag will be presented to Ed’s son Stephen.
