Verna N. Carson, 89, of Windsor, CT passed away peacefully Wednesday, May 24, 2017 at Kimberly Hall North of Windsor, CT Verna was born in Reynolds, GA and was the daughter of the late Percy and Maude (Owens) Lawson. She was a loving and devoted mother to her children, grandchild and family. Verna was a longtime New Britain resident and member of McCullough Temple C.M. E. Church and the Caring Connection of Windsor, CT She was formerly employed by Davidson and Leventhal prior to her retirement. Verna was a friendly and outgoing woman who was well liked.
Verna is survived by her three sons - Percy Randy Carson of Windsor, CT, Ronald Carson and Forrest Carson of Hartford, CT, her two daughters - Denise Carson of Wethersfield, CT and Katrina Carson White of Jacksonville, FL, her sister Betty Lewis of Albany, GA, her sister-in-law Alice Lawson of Orlando, FL and daughter-in-law Lucretia Carson of New Britain, CT and brother-in-law Percy Outlaw of Starksville, MS her six grandchildren, six great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends. Verna was predeceased by her late beloved husband Willie Joe Carson, her daughter Vorna D Willson, her son Willie Pete Carson, her sister Aree Outlaw, her two brothers Elbert Lawson and Bobby Lawson and grandson Michael Bethea.
Homegoing celebration for Verna will be held Thursday, June 1, 2017 at 11 a.m. from the Paul A. Shaker Funeral Home, 764 Farmington Ave., New Britain, CT. Committal service and final resting place will be in Fairview Cemetery, 120 Smalley St., New Britain, CT. Relatives and friends may call at the Paul A.
