Mark K. Smith, 59, of New Britain, CT died unexpectedly Friday, December 8, 2017 at the Hospital of Central CT @ New Britain. Mark was born in Warner Robins Air Force Base, GA on March 19, 1958 and was the son of Lillian (Billue) Harris and her husband Richard of New Britain, CT and the late John D. Smith.
In addition to Mark’s mother, Lillian, he is survived by his three sons – Derrill Smith, Sr, Marquee Smith and Rashad Smith, his daughter Tawana Edwards all of New Britain, CT. his three sisters – Charmetri Wrice-Bulluck and her husband Anthony C. Draughn of Fayettville, NC, Stephanie Wrice Rivera-Grayer and her husband Antonio of New Britain, CT and Helen Tymes and her husband Jasper of Cameron, NC, his eight grandchildren – Daz Smith, Daisha Smith, and Derrill Smith, Jr., Daivan Dumais, Kassidy Edwards, Kallyah Rodgars and Taiyza Edwards, his two aunts – Andrea Billue of Dublin, GA and Thelma Wrice of New Britain, CT, his two uncles – George Billue, Jr. of St. Lucia, FL, and Edward Billue, Sr. of East Hartford, CT, his best friend Deborah Bentley and close friend Robin Woodberry Calender and a host of family, friends, nieces and nephews. Mark was predeceased by his maternal grandparents George and Bertha Billue, his paternal grandparents Johnny and Mary McDowell, his step-father Charles L. Wrice, Sr., his step-sister Verdell Wrice and step-brother Charles Wrice, Jr.
Homegoing Celebration for Mark will be held Friday, December 15, 2017 at 11 a.m. at Spottswood A.M.E. Zion Church, 25 Crestwood Lane, New Britain, CT. Committal service and final resting place will be in Fairview Cemetery, 120 Smalley St., New Britain, CT. Relatives and friends may call at Spottswood A.M.E.
