Sandra J. Coons, 71, of New Britain, CT passed away unexpectedly Saturday, June 16, 2018. Sandi was born in New Britain, CT August 3, 1946 and was the daughter of the late Stanley and Sophie (Slonski) Kobus. She was a member of Sacred Heart Church in New Britain. Sandi attended Sacred Heart School and St.Thomas Aquinas High School, then went on to attend two years of nursing school at St. Joseph’s College. She then decided that nursing wasn't the career for her. Sandi spent her early years working at a law firm in Hartford, CT doing administrative duties and then worked at Heartland for many years where she gained several friends which became dear friends to her until the end. Her career was working at Sacred Heart School in the office which she loved dearly. She never missed a day of work. Sandi could name every student, their home address and phone number by heart. She had an amazing memory and was so truly dedicated to her work. Sandi was loved by all. She was an amazing woman who was always helping everyone whether it was running an errand, giving someone a ride, or lending a shoulder to cry on, Sandi could always be counted on. There was never a doubt, she would be there. Especially to her two special people, her children. There wasn't a moment of the day where she wasn't sending a quick text or call to make sure they were ok and having a good day or telling them she made food and they should come over for lunch or dinner. Sandi always put them first, before herself. She was the most giving and unselfish woman and to say she will be missed immensely is an understatement. We love you so much mom, and we will meet again. We love you tons and tons and bunches and bunches to the moon and back.
Sandi is survived by her daughter - Allison Coons of New Britain, CT and her son - Harold Coons of Newington, CT her sister Patricia Staba and her husband Raymond of Palm Coast, Fla, her special niece Susan Kelly and husband Patrick and their children of Orlando, Fla, her nephew David Staba and his wife Rebecca and their children of Sealy, Texas, and her "furry" grandchildren, Clutch, Ozzy, Riley, Dallas, and Magnum, and a very dear friend Sharon Ashmore of New Britain.
A Celebration of Sandi’s life will be held Monday, June 25, 2018 at 9:30 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church, 158 Broad St., New Britain, CT. Committal service and final resting place will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery, 662 Burritt St., New Britain, CT. Relatives and friends may call at the Paul A. Shaker Funeral Home, Sunday from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Directions to funeral home – I-84 east or west – exit 37 (Fienemann Rd) right off exit – one mile down on right.
