Virginia Catania, 78, of Kensington, CT passed away Wednesday, December 5, 2018 at home. Virginia was born in New Britain, CT and was the daughter of the late William and Mary (Danulevich) Tomczak. She had a career with American Red Cross as a laboratory technician before having children and also worked at Bradleys in Bristol for more than ten years. Virginia’s interests included camping on the beach, a passion for antiques and exotic birds including her pet cockatiel Chico. She was very outgoing and made new friends everywhere she went.
Virginia is survived by her two sons Anthony and Marcus Catania, her two grandchildren Dylan Phelps and Morgan Piotrowski and her great grandson Anthony Iannotta. Virginia was predeceased by her husband Robert Catania.
Funeral rites for Virginia will be held Thursday, December 13, 2018 at 11 a.m. from the Paul A. Shaker Funeral Home, 764 Farmington Ave., New Britain, CT.
Committal service and final resting place will be in Polish National Catholic Cemetery, 39 Wells St., New Britain, CT. Relatives and friends may call at the Paul A. Shaker Funeral Home, Wednesday from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Directions to funeral home – I-84 east or west – exit 37 (Fienemann Rd) right off exit – one mile down on right.
