Paul Nucifora, 71, beloved husband of Sylvia Nucifora, from Southington, passed away suddenly while vacationing in Cocoa Beach, Florida, Sunday January 5, 2014. Paul was born March 24, 1942 in Priolo, Sicily, Italy and was the son of the late Salvatore and Josephine (Vernale) Nucifora. Paul and Sylvia successfully owned and operated Pagliacci's restaurant in Plainville for over twenty years. They also owned Grinder Keepers in Bristol for several years. Paul loved entertaining his family and his friends. His talent for cooking his famous Italian cuisine was ever present from the first bite and it made him happy to see others enjoy his meals. Paul was an avid card player and was always involved in set-back tournaments with their many friends. Paul had a big heart and lived life to the fullest and will dearly be missed by all. He was a member of St. Dominic Church of Southington.
He was a devoted family man who leaves behind his wife Sylvia. They would have been married fifty years this September. He also leaves his two daughters who adored him. Debbie Lonsdale and her husband Bill of East Hampton CT and Lisa McDonald and her husband Jim of Greenwich CT. He will be missed greatly by his four grandchildren;
Loren and Billy Lonsdale and Scott and Corey McDonald, who loved their Poppy. Paul was the middle son of three boys. He leaves his younger brother Anthony Nucifora and his wife Lorraine He also leaves several nieces and nephews and cousins in Connecticut, Florida, California and Italy, all of whom are feeling the great loss of his presence but will always be in their hearts. Paul was predeceased by his older brother Alfio Nocifora of Florida.
Funeral rites for Paul will be held Saturday January 11, 2014 at 8:30 a.m. with the procession departing at 9 a.m. from the Paul A. Shaker / Farmingdale Funeral Home, 764 Farmington Avenue, New Britain, Ct. followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at St. Dominic Church, 1050 Flanders Road, Southington, Ct. Entombment will be in St. Mary’s Garden Mausoleum, St. Mary Cemetery, 1141 Stanley Street, New Britain, Ct. Relatives and friends may call at the Paul A.
