Obituary for Beverly J. Davis

Beverly J. Davis
Beverly J. Davis, 72, of New Britain, CT, entered into eternal life peacefully with her loving family by her side on Thursday, November 3, 2016 at the Hospital of Central Connecticut at New Britain General. Beverly was born in New Britain, CT, and was the daughter of the late Elmer and Mary Robinson. She was married to her "sweetheart" Clearthur "P-Nut" Davis for 48 years. Beverly was a lifelong resident of New Britain. She retired from The Hartford Insurance Company in 2010. Upon her retirement, Beverly enjoyed spending time with her family and doing missionary work for St. James Missionary Baptist church, where she was a faithful member. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Beverly was a caregiver and comedian, who was known as "Aunt Bev" to all. One of her greatest joys was making people laugh and smile with the stories only she could tell. She was also a licensed foster care mother and cared for many children over the years. Her house was "home" to many friends and family members throughout the years, who often gathered there for her Fried Chicken Monday Night Dinners. Beverly will always be remembered as warm, caring and generous. She was an encourager and mentor, and will be missed by those whose path she crossed.
Beverly is survived by her son Keith Davis (Jennifer), daughter Gwen Robinson (Alphanso) of New Britain, CT; four grandchildren La Davis of Brooklyn, NY, Gavin Davis, Malia Davis and Dylan Nees; two special nieces, a nephew, and a great-niece who she and P-Nut raised since they were young children: Nina Gibson of East Hartford, CT, Serena Gibson stationed in Afghanistan, and Tywann Gibson of New Britain, CT, and Denean Smith stationed in Texas; two sisters Jeanette Paredes and Arlene Allen of New Britain, CT; two brothers Elmer "Duke" Robinson, Jr. of New Britain, CT and Peter Gonsalves of Plainville, CT, and a host of nieces, nephews, godchildren and friends. She is predeceased by her loving husband Clearthur "P-Nut" Davis, her father, mother, and two sisters.
Homegoing Celebration for Beverly will be held Thursday, November 10, 2016 at 11 a.m. at St. James Missionary Baptist Church, 45 Daly Avenue, New Britain, CT with the Rev. John W. Walker, Pastor, presiding. Committal service and final resting place will be in Fairview Cemetery, 120 Smalley Street, New Britain, CT. Relatives and friends may call at St. James Missionary Baptist Church, Thursday from 9 a.m. – 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. James Missionary Baptist Church Office at 15 Wilcox Street, New Britain, CT 06051. Service of Comfort provided by the Paul A. Shaker Funeral Home, 764 Farmington Ave., New Britain, CT.
